Hey I just got my Sofi's lab work back today and I had the very same reaction as you did. Sofi is allergic to human dander too-among other things. And she isn't allergic to one food-not a one. And of course that is the first place I started and spent a fortune trying to help her. Back to the food she likes and will start treatment. Now I know why the poor dog scratches and goes nuts. Aside from people I guess dust, molds and a few outside elements are also bothering her. It is really discouraging. Would love any advice you have. I will be giving her allergy shots at home. She cannot live like this forever. She just turned 3.

I have 5 ShihTzus but only one real problem "child".
They all scratch and lick but Boo is especially skin sensitive so I had him tested thru VARL also. Like your baby, he is a 4 for human dander, 4 for Palm trees (We live in Hawaii), 4's & 5"s for some weeds, grass, molds, dust mites and mosquito. He registers a 3 for beef, lamb, pork, yeast and oats.
Since all my fur babies are related, I have them on venison and potato and Boo gets his shot every 2 weeks since May of 2010. I also wash all my bed linens in hot water and steam my bedroom carpet once a week. I also lay a sheeet on the floor at night for those that end up there. Our bed gets a little crowded. lol Hope this helps.

Just a three? My dog (yorkie) is a 5 for human dander! Started him on the hyposensitization shots and within the first week the results were amazing! He has been on the shots for approximately five weeks now and for the past three to four weeks he has slept all night long. When he was symptomatic, he was up all night, scratching, biting, chewing, and rolling around. Get the shots!

Hi, I also have a dog that is allergic to humans. I had the same test done. Human dander was a 5. She is also allergic to almost every type of grass, tree and bug. And, allergic to almost any kind of food she has ever eaten. However, the environmental and food allergies are just 1s and 2s. She is on antigen shots and takes cyclosporine. This seems to work for now, but I am worried about side effects. What treatments have you tried and how have they worked? It is nice to know that I am not the only one with a special dog.
